You are welcome to use my TESOL/TEFL resources free of charge for non-commercial
purposes including teaching.
The resources are suitable for (and probably only suitable for) use by a native English-speaking
teacher working with Chinese-speaking students and were devised for use in studies
supplementing regular English classes. The college level resources might be just
about enough to keep a class seen once a week entertained for a semester.
Please note, this is not a complete course of study but a mixed-bag of resources
ranging from brief ideas for a class through to fully prepared sessions complete
with lesson plans. I have taken reasonable care in preparation but as you might expect
you are invited to use at your own risk. I cannot guarantee accuracy or suitability
for any particular group of students.
The resources are in UK English however, I have
tried to make this usage as international as possible. Though I am from the UK, I
have some editorial experience in US English and guess these materials might also
be helpful for an American teacher (or Australian etc).
I strongly recommend new teachers should check out online study courses. I studied
online for my Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language with Global English.
If you're going to teach English competently and without undue stress you need to
know what you're doing. Even with a degree level education in another discipline,
just being a native English speaker is not quite enough. Can you really remember
your English grammar and do you know how to hold the attention of a class for an
hour or more, several times a day, every day?
Teachers might also consider using some of the short stories or poems on this site
as texts for class study. Stories are often presented in easy-to-follow English as
they are intended for the international reader. Poems with Chinese or Malaysian themes
might interest local students and of course, haiku can be useful in addressing the
existence of syllables within English words.

to this site would be welcome.
