An Old Pillar of Western Democracy
Vote for me I'm a career politician.
To lead you, well it's my ambition.
For all I
want to do is serve,
to bring you all that you deserve.
You know I am a man of vision
you've
seen me on the television.
And yes I've got some clever answers
to please you, and
of course our sponsors.
I will always have my say
on every issue of the day,
speaking out on your behalf,
to
get myself in the photograph.
As a politician I'm too experienced
to ever let myself
be silenced
by any fears of speaking out,
or just not knowing what I'm talking about.
I can bring you increased spending
in anything you might be needing.
And I'll cut those
horrid taxes
that eat away at your resources.
I will bring you sound expediency
in sorting
out our foreign policy.
For foreign enemies might appear
especially in election year.
I
stay loyal to them that matters
but here I do not mean the voters.
With no jobs, my
staunch supporters
could quickly turn collaborators.
So in employment, my priorities
are
finding jobs for all my cronies,
however unsuited they may be
so long as they stay
loyal to me.
I have earned my wholesome image
by carefully suppressing knowledge
of those things
that must stay secret.
Like my special bit of crumpet
whom I never could betray,
until
my memoirs are underway
and I need some juicy details
to guarantee I get the book-sales.
Every year it's more expensive
for campaigning to be persuasive.
So contributions are
most helpful
and of course I shall be grateful.
But discretely, not in public
for the
whole thing is just cyclic.
What goes around will come around
on my political merry-go-round.
So
what about these allegations?
They're the alligators' own creations.
You can't believe
their accusations,
the reptiles are only politicians.
So vote for me, I'm here to stay
I'm
never really far away.
I am no temporary aberration
but follow in a long tradition.
