Midnight Sun

The south wind
is blowing, up north
in the land of the midnight sun.
An old man calls out,
'When I was young,
this was a good place.
The land of the ice.
An ancient world.
An old way of life.
What's wrong with that?'

But he knows what's wrong.
For a warm wind
is blowing up north,
in the land of the midnight sun.

Midnight Sun gained a Second Place Tie in a competition themed on the topic 'Rising Temperatures in the Artic' and was published online in Sol Magazine, Autumn 2006.

Read on Radio Sarawak on 25 Feb 2009 and at Yunnan University, April 2011.
